The Wii is one of the first game systems that introduced this revolutionary way to play games; the motion control gameplay. I remember this system bringing a whole new enjoyment to my gaming experience. Nintendo came up with many brilliant games for this system as well. One of them is the “Just Dance” series that involves the player making certain dance routines followed up by their own shadow. It involves a lot of movement to mimic your own shadow and score more point as you go along. The Wii remote and the Nunchuk make the game play revolve in both controller and motion actions.
Coming up with new concepts (just for the Kinect or anything similar) seems to be a little bit easier than Wii games. Just like any other counsel, it is very hard to come up with new gameplays ideas since there is a lot of different ones already made, and they can influence your new concepts (there is a lot of shooting games that plays the same way as Halo). The pure movement control games (some Wii games, Kinect, Move) are very similar to cell phone/ipod games that deals with a touch screen. They haven’t come up with a game that involves the player to explore a world (3d) as you go along the game. To be able to use your arm/hands to climb trees/stairs/etc and attack/defend, use your legs with certain movements to keep on walking/running/jumping in the environment.
That basic game concept can fit in both 3d (you can explore the environments and you’re able to turn around to see objects in all sides) and 2d. It would be amazing if they can come up with a boxing game for these motion capture game. To be able to use your arms and actually fight in a realistic simulator is pretty new to the audience. It will definitely capture the gaming communities’ attention as soon as they come up with these types of games.
